Tuesday's playoff meetings resulted in tension right up to the end, but now it is clear who will be the last three teams to travel to the football European Championship 2024 in Germany.

For both the crowd in Cardiff, where Wales took on Poland, and Tbilisi, where Georgia faced Greece, it was a long evening as both matches went to penalties.

Wales midfielder Daniel James was under a lot of pressure ahead of the fifth penalty as Poland had put all five of their shots away while Wales were on their heels. However, the shot was saved and Poland could celebrate their place in the championship. In the championship, the team is now pitted against France, Austria and the Netherlands in Group D.

Meanwhile, Georgia took the upper hand by three goals to two after the first four rounds. When Nika Kvekveskiri put the team's fifth shot, the matter was settled. Georgia will now step into EC Group F along with Portugal, Turkey and the Czech Republic.

In playoff qualifier B, Iceland was able to take the lead against Ukraine after just over half an hour when Albert Guðmundsson made it 1-0. The lead held until after the break when Ukraine managed to equalise. It would then take until the 84th minute before Mykhailo Mudryk put the nail in the coffin for Ukraine. With 2-1, the team was able to advance to its fourth straight European Championship. In European Championship group E, the team will face Belgium, Romania and Slovakia.
