The Women's World Ice Hockey Championship is now over for this time and Canada was crowned the best national team in the sport for the thirteenth time. Apart from this, there are a large number of players who can leave the championship very proud of their personal effort. Despite Sweden's early exit, several names can be found among the players with the most points.
Sofie Lundin, Hilda Svensson and Josefin Bouveng all climbed into various top 10 lists in terms of goals, assists and overall points accumulated by a player. In addition to Swedish players, we find the names of Finnish, Czech, Canadian and German players, all in strong competition with the USA, which totally dominates the charts.
However, we do not get to see any Swedish teams in the All Star team or among players who have been named as the best in their respective positions. On the goalkeeper side, Europe has shown great strength as both Finland's Sanni Ahola and Germany's Sandra Abstreiter are praised.
Sweden finished in seventh place in the tournament and can therefore look forward to playing in group B during next year's tournament. There, they will again be joined by Germany and Japan, as well as the two teams that will emerge victorious from the B World Cup, which will be played next week.
